Every now and then I look for a mid-week adventure, so I decided on a night at the theatre watching Pretty Woman at Queensland Performing Arts Centre, also known as QPAC.

QPAC is located in South Brisbane and is easy to get to. Whether you’re driving, catching the train, hopping on the bus, or using a taxi the transport options are ideal. The nearby stations are reasonably flat services, which makes navigating simple for people with mobility considerations.

I chose to drive in and car park 1 was my pick of the night. At $18, it’s fairly standard for city parking. There is a wide ramp that takes you through to the theatre, smooth, easy and stress-free.

One of the favourite parts of going to QPAC is the abundance of restaurants that are located close by. I decided to eat at TomTom, choosing the Green Chicken Curry with a cider. The food was served steaming hot and delicious, and served within five minutes of ordering.

Tickets were purchased several days before, and with a phone call to the reservations team, I was able to use my companion card and choose from several different options.

I chose row N, where they remove the seat, allowing my wheelchair into position, and allowing a carer, friend or family member to sit with you.Heading into the theatre and awaiting how they would portray such an iconic movie into a musical format. The cast captured the essence of the film while giving it a fresh, theatrical twist. It was familiar, but new in all the right ways.

Verdict, the scenes were brought to life with vibrant performances and a genuine sense of fun.

This evening they included Auslan Interpreters, allowing for an inclusive evening for everyone.

It was a great night out, easy to get to, great food, and an enjoyable show, which left me smiling!

If a QPAC night is on your radar, go for it. It might just turn an ordinary weeknight into something memorable.

Mid week dinner and a show.
